On sale for your summer holidays! Grab SunIQ at the great low price throughout the summer vacation period; and lean how to protect yourself and your family from the dangerous affects of the sun.

Over exposure to the sun can cause short-term health effects such as sunburn and skin pigmentation changes. Long-term exposure can cause permanent health effects including premature skin ageing (e.g. wrinkles), skin cancer (e.g. melanoma), and eye damage (e.g. cataracts).
SunIQ provides a range of UV monitors to indicate the strength of the suns harmful rays. These range from fun-to-wear wrist bands to hand-held monitors. Monitors are simple UV-sensitive devices that alert you when you need to take action against the suns damaging effects.

The SunIQ application works out how long you can stay in the sun for based upon your skintype, your current location, the sun protection you are wearing, and the current UV index.

An active internet connection is needed so that SunIQ can accurately retrieve the UV index for your location.

SunIQ uses iOS 4.0 features so that you can close the application and still receive notification that your time in the sun is over. This functionality works on iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4.

How to use SunIQ

SuniQ needs to know a few things before it can work.

* Where You Are
* SunIQ uses the GPS in your iPhone to find this The current UV index
* Once SunIQ knows where you are, it uses your internet connection to lookup the current UV index where you are. Your Skin Type
* Choose the colour and description of skin from the list that matches your skin the closest. If youre in any doubt, choose the lower option. Any SPF youre wearing
* Choose from teh list the SPF value youre wearing. Again, if youre unsure choose the closest lower value to your SPF. The environment youre in
Reflections from the ground all affect the time you can spend in the sun. Sand increases reflected UV, and you get a higher dose of UV in the mountains. Please use the selector to tell SunIQ what the environment youre in is like.

Once SunIQ knows all the above, you can hit the button and SunIQ will tell you how long you can spend in the sun. Itll also offer to alert you shortly before this time is up - you can configure how long before your time is up this alert appears using the settings panel for SunIQ found under the settings app from your iPhones home page.

If you say yes to receiving the alert, it will schedule this alert with your iPhone - theres no need to keep SunIQ open, you can safely use it for other things, listening to your music,making calls, or anything you wish.

SunIQ can also send you a few reminders about other things. Turn on the Hydration alerts, and every 45 minutes or so SunIQ will send you an alert to remind you to take a drink.

You can also receive a reminder about once an hour to reapply your sunscreen, great if youve been swimming! Simply ensure that Remind me to re-apply is set to On and youll get reminders. Just like the hydration and sun time alerts, there is no need for SunIQ to be running for you to get these alerts.
